The striped flag has been in
use since 1822, and was approved in 1833. The nine stripes are
said to stand for the nine syllables of the Greek patriots'
motto"Eleutheria e Thanatos" meaning "Freedom or Death".
Each flag shown is
the flag used by that
nation's government and displayed at the U.N.
headquarters. Where noted the "civil" flag is also
available. It is identical to the "government" flag except
the seal is omitted.
Flags for Outdoor use are made of 100% heavyweight
nylon and finished with strong canvas headings and brass
grommets.
