This Irish flag dates back to
the middle 1800's. It was born in the struggles for freedom from
the British and is similar to the French flag as a tribute to the
French revolution. The green stands for the " Emerald Isle " and
the Catholic majority. The orange represents Protestants and was
taken from the colors of the House of Orange-Nassau. The white
represents the desire for peace between the religious groups. The
white is sometimes attributed to the Presbyterians.
Each flag shown is
the flag used by that
nation's government and displayed at the U.N.
headquarters. Where noted the "civil" flag is also
available. It is identical to the "government" flag except
the seal is omitted.
Flags for Outdoor use are made of 100% heavyweight
nylon and finished with strong canvas headings and brass
grommets.
