The Japanese call their flag
"Hi-no-maru" which means "the sun disc". They call their country
the "land of the rising sun" and believe their Emperor is a
descendant of the Sun Goddess. The design was originally used by
the Shoguns of Tokugawa. The white field represents purity,
honesty and integrity. The red of the sun represents passion and
sincerity.
Each
flag shown is the flag used by that
nation's government and displayed at the U.N.
headquarters. Where noted the "civil" flag is also
available. It is identical to the "government" flag except
the seal is omitted.
Flags for Outdoor use are made of 100% heavyweight
nylon and finished with strong canvas headings and brass
grommets.
