The flag of Mexico contains
the state coat of arms. The arms depicts an eagle standing on a
cactus with a green snake in its beak. The cactus is on an island
in the middle of a lake. Underneath is a branch of oak and laurel.
The state arms is actually an illustration of an ancient Aztec
legend that said that they were to build a city on an island on a
lake. They named the city Tenochitlan, which is today called
Mexico City. The background colors are as follows; green is for
independence, white is for religion and red is for the equality of
the Spanish, Indian and Mestizo races.
Each
flag shown is the flag used by that
nation's government and displayed at the U.N.
headquarters. Where noted the "civil" flag is also
available. It is identical to the "government" flag except
the seal is omitted.
Flags for Outdoor use are made of 100% heavyweight
nylon and finished with strong canvas headings and brass
grommets.
