It is commonly stated that the two stars
symbolize the two islands, but in act they stand for hope and
liberty In addition, Eve Devereux's Identifying flags
gives further that green is for fertility, red for the liberation
struggle, black for the African heritage and yellow for
sunshine. The white stars express hope and freedom. António

Each flag shown is
the flag used by that
nation's government and displayed at the U.N.
headquarters. Where noted the "civil" flag is also
available. It is identical to the "government" flag except
the seal is omitted.
Flags for Outdoor use are made of 100% heavyweight
nylon and finished with strong canvas headings and brass
grommets.
