The Angola flag contains a
machete and cogwheel that is reminiscent of the communist
hammer and and sickle. The red stands for the blood shed
during their struggle for independence. The black stripe
signifies that it is a African nation. The gold emblem
represents the wealth of Angola. The machete and cogwheel
represent the agricultural and industrial workers. The star
represents the unity of the workers.
