The flag of Dominica has a
green background for the lush vegetation of the island. The
tri-colored cross stands for Christianity. The three colors
represent the Trinity. Yellow is for the Sun, the fruit of the
island and the indigenous Carib Indians. The black represents the
soil and the African origin of the majority of the inhabitants.
White stands for the clear waters on its beaches, its rivers and
waterfalls. The bird is a Sisserou parrot found no where else in
the world. The ten stars represent the ten parishes on the island.
The red disc represents socialism.
Each
flag shown is the flag used by that
nation's government and displayed at the U.N.
headquarters. Where noted the "civil" flag is also
available. It is identical to the "government" flag except
the seal is omitted.
Flags for Outdoor use are made of 100% heavyweight
nylon and finished with strong canvas headings and brass
grommets.
